Who We Serve.
Our clients are not cases; they are individual survivors with unique stories and distinct needs. We serve you with not just legal excellence, but empathy and respect.
Boarding School Survivors.
Navigating the complexities of boarding school communities and their power dynamics demands a nuanced legal approach. We understand how the insular nature of these institutions makes coming forward particularly challenging. Coming forward is only more difficult when the predators are teachers held in the highest regard by the institution and students alike.
We are attuned to the subtleties of these environments and provide a confidential, personal, partnership. Working with you to analyze the power structure within these schools we can make claims against school leaders who failed to protect you.
Our approach has resulted in over $50M on behalf of boarding school survivors.
Youth-Serving Organization Abuse Survivors.
Camps and other youth-serving organizations (YSOs) are often remembered as places of joy, community, and discovery. Yet for those betrayed by the very individuals entrusted with their care, the experience casts a long shadow. Our role goes beyond traditional legal services. We are everything from strategists to confidants. We use every means available for rightful financial compensation and resolutions that will contribute to a sense of regained peace.
YSOs include camps, sports teams, and programs that serve children and adolescents.
Clergy Abuse Survivors.
Eric and Kristin have guided survivors through the deeply personal and complex process of seeking justice against clergy sexual abuse. They understand the particular difficulties within the church environment, where power structures, cover-ups, and long-standing biases based on reputation and faith can create formidable barriers.
Eric has a long history as a pioneering force in confronting the Catholic Church for its decades of clergy sexual abuse. His unrelenting pursuit of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston earned him the role of lead counsel. He led the charge in securing an unprecedented $85M settlement on behalf of clergy abuse survivors. But that was just a start.
Eric went on to secure an additional approximately $35M for survivors who refused to settle or were abused in other religious settings.
As lead counsel, Eric helped secure an unprecedented $85M settlement in the Boston clergy abuse cases.
Residential Treatment Center Abuse Survivors.
When you take the vulnerable step of inviting help from a treatment center, you have every reason to expect a safe and supportive environment. When seeking help, you shouldn't face harm. We have dedicated our practice to standing with survivors from such breaches of trust, bringing our extensive legal expertise to bear in advocating for those harmed in spaces where they were most at risk.
RTCs include schools serving children with learning or physical challenges, group homes for children with mental illness and private schools for adjudicated children.
Eric MacLeish changed my life. An empathetic listener, astute researcher, brilliant legal strategist and sophisticated negotiator, he walked me step-by-step through the process of winning claims against both my abuser and the educational institution that harbored him.
